On October 8, 2015 Endre Lund Eriksen, author of children’s books, member of the Writers’ Union of Northern Norway visited Murmansk State Humanities University in order to tell the students and the teachers about his famous books.

The representatives of the Royal Norwegian Consulate General Vice-Consul Wergard Valley, trainee of the Consulate Einar Christensen, Consul Assistant in Cultural Affairs Tatiana Dezhina, Consul Assistant in Public Affairs Maria Salikova were among the honored guests. Head of the Department of Russian Philology Natalia Shevchenko, Associate Professor Marina Naumlyuk organized the meeting.

Endre Lund Eriksen presented his most interesting books that have become popular not only in Norway, but all over the world. First of all, this is a relatively new book «Monsters Dunderli», where the author shows the fictional world with different monsters. At first glance, the book may seem childish and fun, but Endre Lund Eriksen depicts a quite topical issue in his story — equality of people. On the example of different monsters living together, the author presents a model of a modern society where every person needs to compromise and find solutions to specific problems.

The book «The Adventures of Alvin Pang» will be interesting to all those who have brothers and sisters. The author claims that most of the stories are «written off» with his own family.

Endre Lund Eriksen also told the audience about his first book «Caution Pitbull Terje!». This book describes friendship between two boys — Jim and Terje, who learn to stand upon their views, interests, eager to solve the problems not so typical for children. In 2002, this book received the award in the category of Norway’s Child and Adolescent Literature and was translated into several languages, including Russian. In 2005 the cartoon was made and then in 2006 it received the award for Best Film Amanda for children and teenagers.

In his books the writer shows the characters that are familiar and close to children and teenagers and at the same time discusses the topical problems. Therefore, his books are so popular both among the children and adults all over the world.

All the participants of the meeting asked Endre Lund Eriksen different questions.
