On April 16-17 the Third International Kant and Bakhtin Seminar took place at Murmansk State Humanities University. Its topic was understanding the personality, values and borders in view of I. Kant, M. Bakhtin and L. Karsavin’s ideas. This is an annual scientific event arranged by MSHU Department of Philosophy and Law in cooperation with the University of Nordland (Bodo, Norway) within the educational and science and research project «Borderology».

Goril Johanson, Consul of Consulate General of Norway, honoured the opening of the forum with her presence.

During the two days scientists from Murmansk, Saint-Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Apatity, Sosnoviy Bor, and also Norwegian colleagues from Nordland University participated in the intensive philosophic discussions which helped find out object fields in the sphere of Borderological studies.

Researchers from Lithuania participated in the seminar as well. Presentations made by Basia Nikiforova about religious pluralism in Vilnius and Andrius Konickis about philosophy of love in Karsavin’s works aroused great interest. A. Konickis is well known as translator of the Russian philosopher’s texts into Lithuanian and his presentation aroused spirited debate.

An important event within the seminar was presentation of the book «The Risk of Everyday: A Three-Hundred-Cup of Coffee and Three-Block of Cigarettes Long Dialogue». The authors of the book are Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Culture at SPbSU Boris Sokolov and Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Rector of MSHU Andrey Sergeev. The unusual form of this work, designed as a dialogue of two philosophers in combination with the actual problematics will certainly attract the attention of the reader interested in Modern Philosophy. The book was published at Saint-Petersburg Publishing House «Aleteya».
