Winter School «Social Policy and human rights»

MSHU students participated in the International Winter School «Social Policy and human rights» (in framework of joint Master’s Program «Comparative Social Work») in Petrozavodsk

On March 3-7, 2014 the International Winter School of Social Work was held at Petrozavodsk State University, as participants were students from different countries (Russia, Finland, Zambia, Swaziland, Kenya and Nepal) and teaches from partner institutions who had been implementing Master Program in «Comparative Social Work».

The Winter School was attended by MSHU Social Work students: Vyacheslav Epifanov (3d year student), Pavel Kalinin (3d year student) and Natalia Titova (5th year student).

International Winter School «Social Policy and Human Rights» was held in the framework of the international project «Barents Cross-Border University (BCBU)» in the direction of «Comparative Social Work». Partners of the program are University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland), Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk, Russia), Petrozavodsk State University (Petrozavodsk, Russia) and Murmansk State Humanities University (Murmansk, Russia). The working language of the school was English.

As part of the Winter School students attended a series of lectures, such as «Social Policy in Finland and European Union», «Human Rights in Russia (Achievements, perspective, problems)», «Different models of Welfare System in Europe» and others, and also took part in seminars and discussions. Lectures in English were read by professor Alexey Feldt (NArFU), teacher Irina Biserova (PSU), teacher Tea Teppo and professor Tarja Orjasniemi (University of Lapland).

Among the participants there were the students of PSU, NArFU, MSHU and the University of Lapland.
