The Days of the Russian-Norwegian Cross-Border Cooperation

On 1-2 November 2012 the Days of the Russian-Norwegian Cross-Border Cooperation took place in Nickel. The main organizer of the event was the Government of the Murmansk region, supported by the Ministry of the Regional Development of the Murmansk region.

The first Vice-Governor of the Murmansk region Alexej Tiukavin, Vice-Head of the Murmansk Regional Duma Igor Chernyshenko, Consul-General of Norway Eyvind Nordsletten, Consul General of RF in Kirkenes Mikhail Noskov, Head of the Municipal Pechenga District Irina Neverova, Mayor of Sør-Varanger Commune Sesilie Hansen and others welcomed the participants of the conference. During the event they discussed a range of issues, devoted to economics, ecology, education and culture of the region.

MSHU delegation was represented by Professor Andrey Sergeev, the Rector, Professor Pavel Fedorov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, Asst. Professor Inna Ryzhkova, Head of International Relations’ and PR Office, Professor Liudmila Gerashchenko, Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Sofia Chumakova, Senior lecturer, and Yulia Shestova, Project Specialist.

During the first part of the conference Inna Ryzhkova together with colleagues from Nordland University Jan Selmer Methi and Viggo Rosvaer made a presentation on Joint Educational Systems on the Cross-Border Territory. Much attention was paid to the significance of the Master Programme in Practical Knowledge which will be launched in January 2013.

Besides, Professor Liudmila Gerashchenko and Senior lecturer Sofia Chumakova made a presentation on the Humanities University as a Factor of Cross-Border Tourism Development in the Murmansk region within the Round-Table Discussion, devoted to the problems of tourism development in the region.
