On the 18th — 20th of January 2012 a working meeting on the development and realization of the joint Norwegian-Russian Master Program in Practical Knowledge (Borderology) took place at the Center for Adult Learning in Kirkenes. Professors from Nordland University (Bodø, Norway) Jan Selmer Methi and Viggo Rosvær participated in the meeting. The delegation from MSHU included Pavel Fedorov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, Inna Ryzhkova, Director of the Center for Academic Mobility, International Projects and Programs, and Tatiana Shtets, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology.

During the meeting Tatiana Shtets presented 6 study courses, developed by MSHU teachers in order to include them into the curriculum. The Norwegian colleagues highly estimated the level of suggested courses and included them into the model of the future curriculum which will be approved in June 2012 by the Administration of Nordland University. Studies within the Master program will start in January 2013 in Kirkenes, Murmansk (at MSHU) and Nikel.

Besides, it is planned to establish a study center in Nikel within the existing agreement between the twin-cities (Kirkenes − Nikel) and the agreement between Sør-Varanger Commune and Pechenga-Nikel. The idea of such Center creation was supported by the Chair person of the Governorate Committee, Ms Lisbeth Isaksen.

MSHU main task at the present stage is recruiting future Master students from different professional spheres and preparing study courses for realization in mode of the new educational technologies.
