«Culture of the Sami Skolt. Cooperation without borders» project meeting

On September 13 Murmansk State Humanities University hosted a meeting with the representatives of the Sámi Education Institute (SAKK, Inari).

The goal of the visit of our partners from Finland is to discuss issues of «Culture of the Sámi Skolt. Cooperation without borders» project realization. The participants of the meeting were Liisa Holmberg, rector of the Sámi Education Institute, Marja Suojoki, project coordinator, Tanja Sanila, project specialist.

Russian side was represented by Vyacheslav Malkov, Head of the Department of Professional Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Murmansk Region, Nelly Belyaevskaya, leading specialist of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Sergeev, rector of MSHU, Inna Ryzhkova, director of the Center for Academic Mobility, International Projects and Programs of MSHU, Mikhail Smirnyakov, head of International Office of MSHU, and Olga Ivanischeva, dean of the MSHU Faculty of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication, head of the MSHU Laboratory of the Sámi Language.

The meeting was devoted to the discussion of possibilities to teach the Skolt — Sámi language for Sámi of the Kola Peninsula, to train teachers and researchers in the sphere of the Sámi language and Sámi culture at Murmansk State Humanities University. The guests were acquainted with the plans of MSHU for studying and teaching the Sámi language, with the results of work of the Laboratory of the Sámi Language of our university. The guests shared their vision of the development of cooperation in this sphere.
