A visit to Osnabruck, Germany

Within the cooperation between Murmansk State Humanities University and German youth organization THW-Jugend the delegation from MSHU visited Osnabrück from June 25 till July 6, 2011.
The delegation was headed by the head of civil defense staff, lecturer of the department of vital security and basic medical knowledge, leader of the student volunteer rescue team of MSHU. Among the members of the delegation were active students, members of the student volunteer rescue team of MSHU: Alla Shchukina (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Vital Security, 2nd year), Grigory Sinyakov (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Vital Security, 1st year), Polina Gerasimova (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Vital Security, 3rd year), Kirill Velikanov (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Vital Security, 2nd year). The interpreter of the delegation was Nadezhda Moryakova. The delegation also included Roman Kosimovsky, internal services major, vice head of firefighting and alarm signaling department, head of department on firefighting organization. The THW-Jugend principle convener was Ingo Henke.
The visit of MSHU delegation coincided with the 20th anniversary of THW-Jugend. The mail goal of the visit was to discuss further plans for cooperation in accordance with the agreement on joint youth work signed in winter 2011 between MSHU, EMERCOM and THW-Jugend. The visit was supported by the Committee on youth affairs of Murmansk administration.
In Osnabrück the delegation was accommodated in a little hotel and was acquainted with the city and activities of THW-Jugend.
On July 2 the delegation had an opportunity to attend the 20th anniversary of THW-Jugend in Osnabrück. Among the guests of this event there were the city mayor, THW leader, active members of THW-Jugend with their families. During the celebration representatives of MSHU, EMERCOM and THW-Jugend negotiated their plans. The following issues were discussed: legislation in the sphere of youth exchange and involvement of the youth into rescue operations; student exchange between Murmansk and Osnabrück.
On the last day of the visit the delegation together with the active members of THW-Jugend visited the fire station in Osnabrück, saw equipment, munitions and vehicles, got acquainted with the work of firemen in Germany.
