On the 2nd of March MSHU was attended by Svein Helge Orheim, administrative manager of Barents Institute (Norway), Thomas Lunden, professor of center for Baltic and Eastern European studies in Södertörns University College, Stockholm (Sweden) and Lyudmila Dvoinikova, teacher of the Russian language at secondary school in Kirkenes (Norway) within the framework of the project «Teaching religion and ethics at school».

The guests attended school #38 that is currently implementing experimental program on teaching orthodox culture and also discussed the challenges in teaching religion at school with MSHU lecturers and the representative of Murmansk and Monchegorsk Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church and teacher of Sunday school for adults Pavel Skopets. MSHU PhDs Alexander Sautkin, Yulia Bardileva, Svetlana Antoshina, Alexandra Burtseva and interpreter Ekaterina Tamistova took part in the meeting.

In the course of the discussion the participants covered approaches to teaching religion in Russian schools and shared their opinion on the subject. Besides the discussion helped to reveal similar problems in teaching religion and ethics faced by Russian and Scandinavian schools. From this viewpoint experience exchange in this field is of particular importance because of increasing number of migrants to educational institutions both in Russia and Scandinavia.

Moreover professor Thomas Lunden delivered a lecture on «Linguistic and national minorities in the Baltic sea area» to the students of faculty of philology, journalism and international communication. The lecture was followed by meeting with the faculty’s dean Olga Ivanischeva and Swedish speaking students.

The guests expressed deep gratitude to MSHU participants, to school #38 director and teachers and also to the representative of Murmansk and Monchegorsk Eparchy for cordial welcome and constructive discussions.
