Meeting with representatives of the University of Lapland (Finland)

On the 21st of October representatives of the University of Lapland (Finland): Rector Prof. Mauri Ylä-Kotola and Vice-Rector Jukka Mäkelä, Dr. Soc. Sc. visited Murmansk State Humanities University.

MSHU representatives at the meeting were: Rector Andrey Sergeev, Vice-Rector for Science and Research Pavel Fedorov, Vice-Director of the Center for Academic Mobility, International Projects and Programs Alexandra Burtseva and Yulia Shestova, the interpreter. During the meeting they discussed actual problems of the Russian-Finnish cooperation in the sphere of science and education, perspectives of collaboration between MSHU and the University of Lapland.

After the official meeting a discussion took place at the center for Academic Mobility, International Projects and Programs. Associate Professor Andrey Kopylov, PhD and Associate Professor Alexander Sautkin, PhD joined the meeting. The issues discussed were Prof. Mauri Ylä-Kotola’s ideas of further cooperation between the Universities: establishment of the thematic network in Philosophy within the University of the Arctic, development of the Joint Degree Program in Philosophy. A special attention was paid to discussing a future Russian-Finnish project in the Arctic Semiotics.

The participants of the meeting appreciated the constructive and promising dialogue.
