Finnbarents representatives visit

On the 25th March in 2010 MSPU was visited by representatives of Finnbarents: coordinator of International projects — Irina Gerashchenko, the teacher of Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences — Eija Raasakka and also representatives of Murmansk municipal and regional administration, municipal authorities from Kola, Monchegorsk, Kirovsk, Kandalaksha, Polyarnyu Zori and Lapland reserve.

They had a meeting with Pavel Fedorov, MSPU Vice-Rector for Science and Research, Inna Ryzhkova, Director of the Center for Academic Mobility, International Projects and Programs, Alexandra Burtseva, Vice-Director of the Center, Bella Shuruhova, Head of the International Department, Alexey Nikolaev PhD, Head of the Department of Geography and Ecology and Maria Zlakomanova, coordinator of the project «Tourism».

During the meeting they discuss questions, concerning the development of the international project «Tourism», which will unite the efforts of 4 countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia). This project will be focused on the improvement of the touristic sector in the Barents Region.

One of the main questions which was discussed was the cooperation between municipal authorities, universities and travel agencies in the sphere of tourism and the discussion of the possibilities to create the international network which will include Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia.

It was decided to arrange the next meeting in Kirovsk and Apatity in June 2010. The application form will be sent to the program Kolarctic ENPI till 9th April.
