Delegation from the Netherlands visited MASU
On June 14, the delegation from the Netherlands visited Murmansk Arctic State University. Consul General of the Netherlands Mr. Hans Wesseling and Professor of Russian History from University of Groningen Mr. Hans van Koningsbrugge were members of the delegation.
During the meeting, MASU Rector Andrey Sergeev presented the projects and ideas of MASU in the field of research and creative technologies. Ass.Prof. Tatiana Ashutova, head of MASU strategic project «Creative city — the territory of development» told the guests about the University’s achievements and plans in the field of development of comfortable urban environment and presented results of the first phase of the Northern Design Cluster. The experience of the project implementation interested the guests from Holland.
Ass.Prof. Yulia Bardileva introduced research conducted at MASU Department of History and Law. The presentation aroused a lively discussion, Professor van Koningsbrugge mentioned many points of intersection and made a proposal to organize intensive courses in History for Dutch and Russian students.
Maria Knyazeva, MASU Vice-rector for Research, briefly presented the main directions of scientific activity of the University. The Dutch colleagues showed great interest in the activity «Monitoring and preservation of natural Arctic ecosystems» as the problem of developing «green» technologies is relevant for the Netherlands.
The meeting was the starting point for the development of closer relations with both the Dutch Consulate and the University of Gronningen.
