MASU Delegation visited the World Congress of Philosophy in Beijing
The delegation of Murmansk Arctic State University visited the largest event in the field of philosophy — the 24th World Congress of Philosophy held from 13 through 20 August in Beijing, China.
During the Congress, the members of the delegation presented their reports in various sessions. MASU rector Andrei Sergeev made a presentation «Metatheory of the Border». Director of MASU Institute of Humanities and Social sciences Andrei Vinogradov presented a report «The Border Between Form and Content in the Views of I.A. Ilyin About the Agent of Law», the associate professor of philosophy and social sciences Vasilii Voronov shared his views on the topic «Borderline Position as a Foundation of Practical Thinking». The delegation was accompanied by the Research and International cooperation office advisor Mikhail Uksusov.
In addition, MASU became one of the co-organizers of the round table «Border — Norm of Civilization and Phenomenon of Personal Intention» prepared in collaboration with colleagues from the Nord University, the University of Helsinki, SPbU, SFedU, etc.
The speeches of MASU delegates received a lot of positive feedback and comments. MASU experience in the implementation of the Russian-Norwegian master program «Bordrology» presented in the framework of the round table attracted special attention. The guests of the event described this project as a unique and the most illustrative example of a combination of philosophy and practice, noted the invaluable contribution of this project to the personal development of each participant and to the international practice of humanitarian subjects teaching, as well as expressed interest in the further development and expansion of the program through the inclusion of Asian countries and traditions of Eastern philosophy in the project.
We remind that the program «Borderology» is a unique joint educational project of MASU and the Nord University. The objective is to comprehend the phenomena of cross-border, inter-institutional, interpersonal and internal dialogue in the field of philosophy to identify tools that are applicable to resolving local and global conflicts, creating a new type of international communication.
The World Congress of Philosophy is held every five years by the International Federation of Philosophical Societies in cooperation with one of its members. The 24th Congress was held in Beijing. The next city to host the Congress in 2023 will be Melbourne, Australia.
