A delegation of young diplomats from Norway visited Murmansk Arctic State University on September the 5th. The young diplomats have been trained for 3 years. During the first year they worked in different departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway in Oslo, then underwent more complete training in the selected programs. The third step in becoming a diplomat is to work directly in diplomatic missions around the world. Before travelling to Murmansk the delegates visited Svalbard. They got acquainted with the activities of the Consulate in Russia, as well as visited various Norwegian organizations, universities, met with representatives of non-governmental organizations and authorities.

During their visit to MASU, the delegates were introduced to the University activities. The guests met with MASU Rector Andrey Sergeev.

«First of all, we cooperate with two universities — the Arctic University of Norway and Nord University, as well as with universities that are located in other Norwegian cities. Spheres of cooperation are very different — from Pedagogy and Psychology to Mathematics, Philosophy and Eeconomics. We are planning several meetings with Norwegian colleagues both in Russia and Norway in the coming academic year. And this is only a part of the examples of intensive cooperation leading to the 25th anniversary of cooperation between Russia and Norway within the Barents Region», Andrey Sergeev said.

Vice-Rector for research Maria Knyazeva made a brief presentation on the University history, as well as the activities of MASU as a flagship university of the Murmansk region. Mikhail Uksusov spoke about international activities of the University. In addition the event was attended by representatives of other regional educational organizations.

The guests expressed interest in the status of MASU as a flagship university and noted the high level of cooperation between MASU and Norwegian organizations within international projects.
