MASU Students Met with Representatives of Swedish Union of Pensioners

On September 17, delegates from the Swedish state organization «Union of Pensioners of Sweden» visited MASU Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences.

Ass.Prof. Inna Ryzhkova (head of Research and International Cooperation Office), Prof. Olga Ivanischeva (head of the Department of Russian Language and Mass Communications), Ass. Professor Victor Tsylev (head of the Department of Philosophy, Social Sciences and Social Security); Ass. Prof. Svetlana Petoshina and senior lecturer Tatyana Tegaleva attended the meeting.

The round table discussion on «Topical Issues of Social Work with the Elderly People: Russian-Swedish Experience in Solving Social Problems of the Population» was devoted to acitivities of the department and features of professional training of students.

Master students of Social Service Y. Avramenko and D. Yuzhakova told the guests about their two years of work with the elderly people in the municipal complex center of social services.

Student of the public association «Socionom» T. Markova spoke about the regional socially significant project teaching computer literacy to elderly people. The experience of volunteering caught the interest of pensioners from Sweden. Svetlana Petosina gave detailed answers to all questions about the development of volunteering activities in Russia and the spread of a new direction for the elderly.
