MASU Delegation Visited the Arctic University of Norway

A solemn celebration of the 50th anniversary of the leading international partner of MASU — UiT-Arctic University of Norway was held on the 29th of September, associated with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of cooperation between the University of Tromsø and universities of Russia.

The delegation of Murmansk Arctic State University headed by the rector Andrei Sergeev paid a visit to congratulate the colleagues and to recollect the years of fruitful cooperation with UiT. The head of Research and International cooperation office Inna Ryzhkova made a presentation of the international project «BRIDGE» focused on the development of youth entrepreneurship. Associate professor of department history and law Maria Ilyicheva spoke about publications that were released together with colleagues from Norway.

On October 1, the delegation visited the campus of Alta where they met with main partners of MASU in the field of comparative social work, pre-school education and tourism. MASU rector gave a presentation informing colleagues about the development of MASU as a flagship university of the Russian Federation. Norwegian colleagues presented an updated version of the program «Bachelor of Northern Studies» starting autumn 2019. Five MASU professors will be directly involved in the educative process and will give course of lectures for an international group of students.

The colleagues also discussed the possibility of a joint study on the internationalization of higher education in the Murmansk region and Finnmark. It is planned to apply to the Research Council of Norway.
