On April 23, MASU philology students and teachers from the Department of Russian Language and Mass Communications met with the famous modern Norwegian writer Arne Svingen and translator Anastasia Naumova in the framework of the International Festival «Barents Bird».

Arne Svingen has been writing since 1997, he is author of more than 90 books for adults, teenagers and children.

«I am one of those who create their works in very different genres, and there are several reasons for this. First, I like to set tasks myself. Secondly, I like to read books of different genres. And thirdly, the ideas that I have determine the genre», - Arne said.

The writer shared his secrets of creative skills, told about the problems of teenage readership in Norway. He paid special attention to his works «The ballad of a broken nose» (translated into 17 languages) and «All I owe you is violence».

Arne Svingen also answered students’ questions about translation peculiarities of Norwegian literature into Russian, reading preferences of teenagers in Norway and the writer himself.

The meeting was held in two languages — Norwegian and Russian, simultaneous translation was made by Anastasia Naumova.
