On April 1-4, 10 students and two teachers from the Arctic University of Norway visited MASU and took part in the annual event «Intensive course on social work with children and youth in the Barents Region — development prospects in Russia and Norway».

Russian and Norwegian teachers conducted a series of lectures on topics such as:

  • Violence in the educational environment: problems and preventive work
  • Internet addiction among youth and cyber-violence
  • Music as a method of working with children and youth
  • How to use the principles of protecting the rights of children in organizing events with children and youth

The participants discussed how these problems manifest themselves in Russia and Norway, their similarities and differences, features of children’s social life in each country, learned about the existing difficulties associated with this topic, and tried to find possible tools to solve them.

As part of the course, the students visited the municipal Integrated Center for Social Services to the Population (Department for Disabled Young People) and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Norway in Murmansk.
