MASU participated in the second session of the cross-border BRIDGE project

MASU delegation participated in the second session of the CBC Kolarctic project «BRIDGE — Barents Region Initiative for Developing Growth and Employability». This time, the session took place in the Norwegian town of Vardo.
The events organized by the Arctic University of Norway (UiT i Alta) were attended by 12 representatives from MASU, including employees of MASU International cooperation office, coaches of the project-associate professors Alla Raspopova and Tatiana Belevskikh, as well as 6 students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs: Anastasia Avchinnikova, Danil Drobot, Nikita Khristoforov, Valeria Leontieva, Polina Penkova and Konstantin Bondarenko.
This trip is the second stage in the implementation of the project, which aims to create and develop an innovative web-platform, on the basis of which the students will be able to unite into international, multicultural and cross-disciplinary teams to solve specific business cases of small and medium-sized enterprises throughout the whole Barents Euro-Arctic region. Within three years, students of the Arctic University of Norway, Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Tornio, Finland), Murmansk Arctic State University, Petrozavodsk State University and ITMO University (St. Petersburg) will test this platform and get acquainted with the business space of the Northern territories.
As part of the project, it is planned to conduct scientific research in the field of marketing, tourism, education, entrepreneurship and, internationalization of higher education.
During the trip to Vardo, students were personally introduced to the partner organizations operating in the town: tourist complex Varanger View, vocational school Seafood Center, greenhouse initiative Grow Arctic, tourist information center Vardo Tourism, Vardo Hotel, Museum complex under the open sky Vardohus Fortress, creative association Kulturpilot, Vardo Port, gastronomic project Varanger cook and the historic building of the Grand Hotel.
As a result of the visit, teams presented their plans for the case studies and the results of the work done during the trip. The final solutions for the companies will be presented at the end of November on the project’s platform. The next session is scheduled for spring 2020 and will be organized in Murmansk. At the moment, MASU is at the stage of approving the list of Murmansk cases.
CBC Kolarctic 2014-2020 is a financial instrument to support cooperation between the Northern regions of Finland, Sweden, Norway and the North-West of Russia. Program objective:
- Support for economic and social development in regions on both sides of the common border;
- Solving common problems in the field of environmental protection, public health, and safety;
- Creating better conditions and prerequisites for increasing the mobility of people, goods and capital.
