«Yandex. Lyceum» educational platform opens at MASU

Murmansk Arctic State University has become a part of «Yandex. Lyceum» educational platform. University lecturers have completed special training at Yandex to introduce Murmansk schoolchildren to the profession of a programmer and teach them programming in Python.

«Yandex. Lyceum» is an educational project of Yandex Company designed for 8-9th grades students who want to learn programming. Classes will take place at the university twice a week. Classes are free of charge, but the applicants have to pass an admission test.

Registration and the first stage of testing are conducted strictly from August 30 to September 10 on the official «Yandex. Lyceum’s» website.

Applicants who successfully pass the first stage of testing are invited to an interview, which will be held at MASU from September 19 to 24.

The testing results will be published on September 30. Classes start on October 1.

The educational programme of the course was designed by specialists of the Data Analysis School, whose graduates work in major IT companies around the world. During the training, students learn the Python programming language. The Lyceum uses it to develop web applications, computer games, and voice assistants. Python is used by many well-known companies: Youtube, Instagram, Netflix, and even NASA uses Python to carry out its scientific research. Therefore, to know Python is a valuable asset at the labor market.

The programme is designed for two academic years. At the end of the programme, students receive a certificate. Lyceum graduates may opt for work as junior developers or trainees.
