Advisor of MASU International office becomes the Youth Envoy of Russia in the Arctic Council

Advisor of MASU International Cooperation office Mikhail Uksusov won the all-Russian contest «Russian Chairmanship Youth Envoy for International Arctic Cooperation for the period of Russian Federation chairmanship of the Arctic Council 2021−2023». As the Youth Envoy Mikhail will promote issues of socio-economic development of the Arctic among youth and advocate for Russian initiatives at relevant venues.

The last word on Mikhail's appointment belonged to Nikolay Korchunov, the Ambassador at Large for the Arctic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the Senior Arctic Official of the Russian Federation to the Arctic Council since December 2018.

Mikhail is a manager and organizer of international projects. He fosters academic mobility among MASU staff and students and help them to visit Scandinavian partner universities. Furthermore, Mikhail takes part in a project funded by Cross-Border Cooperation programme Kolarctic.

On June 29−30, our colleague will present youth policy priorities of the Russian Federation chairmanship at Senior Arctic Officials meeting.

The contest «Russian Chairmanship Youth Envoy for International Arctic Cooperation» is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs with the support of International Youth Cooperation Project Office («Russian — Arctic Council» area).

Contestants presented their ideas on the promotion of international Arctic agenda to an expert jury: representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Rosmolodezh, the Government of Yamal-Nenets autonomous region, MGIMO university, The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and International Youth Cooperation Project Office («Russian — Arctic Council» area).
