The Murmansk region joined the traditional three-day International Arctic Student Forum. The Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society together with the Murmansk Arctic State University and MMBI RAS organized the event.

This year the forum was held in the online format. Murmansk Arctic State University provided platforms for dialogue and communication. The guests of the supporting university were students of the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University.

«Arctic Frontiers» is a major practical conference held annually in the city of Tromsø, Norway. The conference involves accompanying events, including a student forum where young people from different countries talk about social and environmental topics, talk about their developments, and consider opportunities to participate in the development of northern territories.

«For three days we listened to lectures by experts, business representatives and international agencies. Young entrepreneurs shared with us their experience in running promising projects. In addition, there were interactive activities, teleconference with international students, including those from Asia and Africa. We discussed migration, demographic, and environmental problems,» said a member of the international department Nikita Gordeev.

Students from MASU and SFU also visited Ura-Guba: they went out to the Barents Sea on a boat and got acquainted with local fauna — dolphins and seals. Then the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk students together watched a film by Norwegian filmmakers about health and responsibility during the pandemic.
