International Students' Day and the International Day for Tolerance

On November 21, 2023, MAU International Сooperation office held the annual event, timed for two important dates — the International Students' Day and the International Day for Tolerance.

First-year students of Pedadogy (the English and German languages) and Linguistics had a chance to meet first- and second-year Indian students of General Medicine at MAU «Boiling Point».

The event was held entirely in English. This not only helped international students feel more comfortable, but also gave Russian students a chance to practice their language skills. It was also an opportunity for them to interact with representatives of new cultures. International students, in turn, made new friends: at the end of the event, students exchanged phone numbers and social media accounts.

«We had great time in the event. We made new friends and got to know them,» shared Chandrika Gollaratti Doddaiah, a second-year student of General Medicine. «I would like to thank the International Cooperation office for giving us opportunity to present our dance and dishes. It was truly great to be part of the event.»

First, the students were divided into teams and took part in the team-building session. Then, they had a chance to participate in the quiz during which students tested their knowledge in questions related to student life, culture, science, and international relations.

Students fully supported the idea of celebrating the International Students' Day and cooked traditional Indian and Russian dishes. Indian students also performed national dances, as well as showed Russian students Mehndi, an art of painting on the body or henna tattoo.

«I truly enjoyed this event because we got to meet international students as well as other students of foreign languages. I believe that getting to know such a bright and fascinating Indian culture was a valuable experience,» said Darina Abrosimova, a first-year student of Linguistics. «I would love to take part in such events more often because they help connect people from different parts of the world and foster tolerance in us.»
