Student scientific society «Surgery» held another meeting

On October 26, 2023, the student scientific society «Surgery» held a meeting devoted to the problems of diagnosis and treatment, surgical operation to remove the vermiform appendix of the caecum — appendectomy.
Maksim Tolok and Sofia Odazhiu, the 2nd year students of General Medicine, gave their presentation on the topic. The report showed the stages of the operation from the incision of the skin to the removal of the appendix.
Yuri Zakrevsky, the head of the Society, Advanced Doctor of Medical Sciences, surgeon of the highest qualification category with extensive experience, described the technique of the operation, possible complications, and ways to prevent them.
Each student worked out practical skills of finding the location of the appendicular process in the projection on the abdominal wall according to Charles McBurney and the incision line according to Volkovich-Diakonov, and also developed the technique of applying surgical sutures on a dummy of the human torso.
