Murmansk Arctic University held the VII All-Russian forum with international participation «Creative Industries in the Arctic: experience and prospects of development». 180 participants from both Russia and abroad joined the discussion on Arctic design, architecture, tourism, northern urban studies, history, and contemporaneity of cultural landscapes.

During the three-day forum representatives of various creative industries of Murmansk region, Russia and other countries shared their experiences, built connections that would influence the implementation of creative technologies, new approaches, and territorial development models. One of the goals of the forum was to promote creative industries in economic, social, and infrastructural development activity in the Arctic Zone and in Murmansk region as a whole.

«Each year we gather those who love, get inspired and impressed by the Arctic,» shared Tatiana Belevskikh, head of MAU Creative Industries and Entrepreneurship Institute, head of the forum. «Today my colleagues and I discussed opportunities for implementation of creative industries into the regional economics. Our forum is a real hot spot for active, creative people who search for new approaches to Arctic cities development

Among the guests of the forum opening ceremony were Eugeni Galkin, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Elena Zubritskaya, deputy minister of education and science of Murmansk region; Eugenia Chibis, head of the United volunteer centre of Murmansk region; and Anna Grishko, deputy chairperson of the Committee for Culture, Youth Policy, Tourism, and Sport, representative of the Murmansk Region Duma.

Experienced spokespeople, leading experts, and entrepreneurs presented creative industries of different regions of Russia as well as other countries. Among the distinguished presenters were the professors of Jawaharlal Nehru University's Centre of Russian Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies (New Dehli, India). They presented an online-course «Business Russian» for Master degree students of Indira Gandhi National Open University.

The topics for discussion on seminars, workshops, and pitch sessions included training of specialists in creative industries; factors of successful development of Arctic design; trends in urban studies and digital design; creativity monetization; potential of artificial intelligence; Arctic architectural future; climate dynamics; university's branding; comfortable atmosphere in polar night conditions; domestic tourism; development of interactive excursions, etc.
