The Magnificent Seven: young scientists of MAU were awarded Governor's stipend
Andrei Chibis has awarded seven postgraduate students and young scientists from Murmansk Arctic University the Governor of Murmansk region stipend on the Young Scientists Forum of 2024.
Aleksandra Abrashkina, Viktor Yereschenko, Konstantin Moskvin, Artyom Punantsev, Ksenia Savkina, Aleksandr Stolyanov, and Yekaterina Kharmich won the competitive selection for Governor's stipend. Among the awarded were also members of Kola Scientific Centre of Russian Academy of Science and Polar branch of Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. In total, 38 young scientists will be receiving the stipend this year.
Andrei Chibis: «It is necessary to say that nowadays Russian science and young scientists have many opportunities. Before, technology was not in demand and it was harded to break into the market. We live in Murmansk region — the most productive region of Russian Arctic. We are progressing and advancing in economic development. Our region has high competition and successfully fulfills assignments from Vladimir Putin, president of Russia. From 2019, under the programme «To Live in the North», we have increased financial support of scientists by more than 40 times and will continue raising it. Believe in yourself and be persistent!
The Governor's stipend was introduced by the Governor Andrei Chibis' initiative in 2023 and is among the young scientists support directions of highest priority under «To Live in the North» programme. The winners will be paid the Stipend for one year in the amount of 20 000 roubles per month.
