MAU strengthens cooperation with Indian colleagues
Representatives of Murmansk Arctic University — Mikhail Vasyokha, Head of Marine Oil and Gas Engineering Department, and Zhanna Vasilyeva, Head of Ecology and Technosphere Safety Department — as part of a delegation from three universities have visited India. Under the North European Open Science and Education Consortium programme, alongside their colleagues from Petrozavodsk State University and Saint Petersburg State University, they visited scientific, analytical, and educational institutions studying the Arctic in New Delhi for one week.
As Mikhail Vasyokha said, the discussions of Russian and Indian specialists concerned issues of Russia-India cooperation in education and research in the Arctic, perspective of international development of research conducted at MAU with the support of World-class Scientific and Educational Centre «Russian Arctic». Ecological safety control, development of new transport and logistics routes in the Arctic, and Russia-India scientific cooperation prospects were also talked through. In order to strengthen Russia-India Arctic cooperation, possibilities of creating educational initiatives between Murmansk Arctic University and Indian scientific and educational institutions.
The visit also included various discussions and dialogues on the stated topics with several organizations: Observer Research Foundation, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, National Maritime Foundation, Indian Council of World Affairs, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Science and Geopolitics of Arctic and Antarctic, and Center for Research on Strategic and Security Issues.
As Zhanna Vasilyeva and Mikhail Vasyokha noted, after the visit, the new prospects for cooperation between Murmansk Arctic University and Indian research and educational organizations, which were interested in developing relations with MAU, were established.
