An Indian Spring Arrives at Murmansk Arctic University

Students in Murmansk got a head start on spring with a vibrant celebration of the Indian festival of Holi. The event, held on the evening of 4th of March, saw medical students from India come together to mark the occasion with colour, music, and dance.

Known as the festival of colours and the triumph of good over evil, Holi welcomes the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. The students recreated the traditional festivities, throwing coloured powder at one another, performing musical numbers, and sharing traditional dishes, filling the atmosphere with joy and energy.

The Holi party was the perfect follow-up to a grand festive concert held at the university in honour of International Women's Day. The event at the Northern Campus hall featured professional vocalists from Murmansk and the region, who delivered a series of unforgettable musical performances.

The University's KLYUP-Studio ensemble, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, also delighted the audience with their talent. Adding an international flair, the same Indian medical students who later celebrated Holi performed high-energy dance and song numbers, filling the hall with vibrancy. In a contrasting display of grace, students from the MMRK named after I.I. Mesyatsev performed a classic waltz.

The concert was attended by distinguished guests Mr. Amar Krishna Bala, an auditor for the International Association of Classification Societies, and his wife, Kaveri Bala.

The events created a joyful atmosphere of unity, bringing together students from different cultures to celebrate the arrival of spring.
