MAU Hosts Consul General of the Republic of Korea

Murmansk Arctic University welcomed a delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Saint Petersburg, led by Consul General Ms. Park Ji-eun and Deputy Consul General Mr. Hwang Gyutae.

The University's delegation was led by Acting Rector Maria Knyazeva and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dmitrii Nesterenko. They were joined by faculty researchers Pyotr Kravets (Department of Biology and Aquatic Bio-resources), Mikhail Vasyokha (Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Production, ‘Arctic Logistics' Research Laboratory), and Zhanna Vasilyeva (Department of Ecology and Technospheric Safety, ‘Eco-engineering and Polution Monitoring in the Arctic Zone' Research Laboratory), alongside Yulia Shestova, Head of the International Cooperation Office.

The University representatives outlined MAU's research and academic capabilities, highlighting ongoing developments in Arctic technologies, environmental safety, logistics, and aquatic bio-resources. They also shared plans to construct a new, modern campus.

The Korean delegation expressed keen interest in forging direct bonds between the University and educational institutions of the Republic of Korea. They also spoke highly of MAU's expertise in training specialists for high-latitude regions.

Following the discussions, the University was formally invited to participate in an expert seminar 'Korean-Russian Cooperation in the Arctic: Prospects and Challenges'.
