Series of Diplomatic Meetings with India Continues in MAU
On March 24, the University welcomed the Consul General of India, Ms. Neelam Rani, after an earlier visit from Kalrav Mishra, the Consul of Commercial Affairs of India in St. Petersburg. The University delegation was represented by Rector Irina Shadrina; Viktoria Yatsenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs; Viktoria Piksendeeva, Director of the Institute of Additional Education for Children and Adults; and Anastasia Pozdnyakova, specialist of the International Cooperation Office. Together with the guests, they discussed the issues of education for students from India, their adaptation in the region, as well as the expansion of cooperation in education. Both parties expressed hope for an increase in the number of students and strengthening of ties between the two countries.
On March 26, the delegation met with the Indian students of General Medicine. They spoke of their life and education in Murmansk, opportunities to travel around the region and Russia as a whole, as well as measures they could take to better represent their national culture and traditions at the University.
The Consul told the students what issues that fall under her jurisdiction, and informed them about the possibility of receiving consular support regarding the observance of rights of students from India. The students found out more details on the PCC registration procedure through the consular department. Fuirther, Ms. Neelam Rani focused on the law governing procedure for residence of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation.
The Consul General noted that students from India are true ambassadors of Indian culture in the Murmansk region, and it is through students that cultural exchange between Russia and India takes place. The meeting concluded with wishes of luck to the students in their academic and extracurricular activities.
