Days of Northern Europe

On the 7th – 15th April the Days of Northern Europe were held in Murmansk. The cultural project was realized with the support of Consulate General of Norway in Murmansk and Murmansk branch of Consulate General of Finland in Saint-Petersburg. The program of the Days of Northern Europe included a meeting with the famous Norwegian writer Erlend Loe and the prominent Norwegian historian, Professor Narve Fulsas.

On the 12th of March President of the Lapland Consortium Mr Mauri Yla-Kotola and representative of the International Office at the University of Lapland Minna Nousiainen visited MSHU.


I. Kant and M.Bakhtin: Perpetual Peace and Dialogue

International science and practice seminar «I. Kant and M. Bakhtin: Perpetual Peace and Dialogue» was held at MSHU on 12-13 March. It was arranged by the Department of Philosophy, Political Science and Law in cooperation with the University of Nordland (Bodø, Norway).

MSHU students participated in the International Winter School «Social Policy and human rights» (in framework of joint Master’s Program «Comparative Social Work») in Petrozavodsk.

Pre-school education in Russia and Norway

MSHU teachers and administrative staff in cooperation with Kindergarten #93 took part in the project,devoted to comparative analysis of pre-school education in Russia and Norway. The project was initiated by Finnmark Faculty of the Arctic University of Norway and received the support of the Barents Secretariat.

On the 19th of December the Consul General of the Consulate General of Norway in Murmansk Ole Andreas Lindeman visited MSHU.

Diplomas of the Arctic University of Norway

On the 12th December 2013 the Conferment Ceremony took place at MSHU during which Diplomas of the Arctic University of Norway were awarded to MSHU students and graduates who have completed the international educational program «Bachelor of Northern Studies», jointly realized by two institutions.

Representatives of the Arctic University of Norway visited MSHU

On the 2nd of December representatives of the Arctic University of Norway visited MSHU. The delegation was headed by Mayor of Tromso Jens Johan Hjort and Rector of the Arctic University of Norway Anne Husebekk. The delegation included also the representatives of administration and the teaching staff of the University.


Project «Peace Education»

MSHU took part in the project «Peace Education» by invitation of the Arctic University of Norway. The idea of the project is to popularize the program in Peace Education, realized in Tromso, to develop methods of conflict resolution, to teach mediations technologies.

On 21-25 October the intensive course in Tourism took place at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physical Culture and Life Safety in cooperation with the Lapland University Consortium (Tourism Institute).

On the 20th of November representatives of the Consulate General of Germany in Saint-Petersburg: Katrin Werdermann, Vice Consul General, Head of the Economy Department, and Dirk Zierpka, Deputy Head of Economy Department — made an official visit to MSHU.

«ArctiChildren in Net»: Workshop in Alta

On the 7th — 9th October 2013 the Arctic University of Norway (campus in Finnmark, Alta, Norway) hosted the international workshop within the project «ÀrctiChildren ln Net (2012-2014)» with the title: «CHALLENGES TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA IN HEALTH PROMOTION».

Delegation from the Arctic University of Norway

On 25 September, 2013, delegation from the Arctic University of Norway visited Murmansk State Humanities University. Mainly there were representatives of Finnmark faculty educational department of the Arctic University of Norway. During their fam visit, guests got acquainted with general information about the structure and the content of MSHU scientific-educational activity, specificity of international projects, which are realized.

Barents Summit

On 3-4 June 2013 the Barents Summit took place in Kirkenes, Norway. It brought together Prime-Ministers of Russia, Norway, Finland and Iceland, Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Nordic countries, business and civic circles of the Barents Euro-Arctic region. During the summit the new Declaration, which will define the perspectives of cooperation in BEAR for the nearest decades, was signed.

The fourth session of the Russian-Norwegian Program in Practical Knowledge

On 20-23 May the fourth session within the Russian-Norwegian Master Program in Practical Knowledge (Borderology) took place at Nickel Arts School. During the session lectures and seminars were carried out by Professor from Nordland University Jan-Selmer Methi, and also MSHU Ass.Professors Tatiana Shtets and Alexander Sautkin.

Finnish-Russian «A School for All» project workshop

On the 14th—15th of May a workshop within the Finnish-Russian project «A School for All» took place at MSHU International Relations’ Office. The delegation from the University of Lapland included: Professor Sai Väyrynen, Scientific Leader of the project; Katja Norvapalo, Project Manager and Essi Kesalahti, the trainee.

On April 9-10, 2013 in Murmansk took place the official final seminar of Barents Cross-Border University Development Project (2011-2013) (BCBU+) funded under EC Kolarctic ENPI CBC program.
