The international seminar devoted to the problems of tourism

On the 24th — 26th April MSHU hosted the international seminar devoted to the problems of tourism development in the Barents region within the international project «BART Public-private partnership in Barents tourism».

The delegation from the University of Oulu

On March 28 MSHU was visited by the official delegation from the University of Oulu (Finland) which included Olli Silvén, Vice-Rector, Kimmo Kuortti, Head of International Office and Irina Rousu, International Officer.

The new cooperation agreemet

Now the list of agreements as for the priority directions of cooperation between MSHU and its foreign partners includes the agreement which was signed last week — the memorandum of understanding between MSHU and Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences, Finland. The memorandum is the first agreement between the two universities and is sure to facilitate mutually beneficial cooperation.

«ArctiChildren» project seminar

On the 12th−13th of March the kick-off seminar within the international project «ArctiChildren» took place at Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences. The project is financed by «Kolarctic ENPI CBC» program.


Rectors' Meeting within BCBU project

On the 13th–14th of March the Rectors’ Meeting within BCBU project took place at the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi). During the meeting all the Rectors of participating institutions made presentations on the current project stage of realization and signed the Cooperation Agreement. Professor Sergeev, Rector of MSHU, informed his Finnish and Russian project colleagues that MSHU would claim to change its status in the project (from associated to full partnership) after getting license for Master program in Social Work.


The delegation from Lapland University Consortium

On March 16, 2012 MSHU hosted the delegation from Lapland University Consortium (LUC) represented by three universitites: Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences, the University of Lapland, and Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences.

On 13-15.03.2012 MSHU was visited by the representatives of the University College of Finnmark (Alta, Norway): Kirsten Elisabeth Stien, Hanne Kirsten Nielsen and Elena Merzlyakova.

On March 13, 2012 there was an open lecture at MSHU given by Fritz Johnsen, a representative of Statsped organization (Norway) «Difficulties in teaching Mathematics: dyscalculia».

At the end of February, Rovaniemi in Finland hosted the Week of Design. A part of this event was an International Seminar on the Arctic Design. The Faculty of Art Education, Technology and Design participated in these events.

Working meeting in Kirkenes

On the 18th – 20th of January 2012 a working meeting on the development and realization of the joint Norwegian-Russian Master Program in Practical Knowledge (Borderology) took place at the Center for Adult Learning in Kirkenes. Professors from Nordland University (Bodø, Norway) Jan Selmer Methi and Viggo Rosvær participated in the meeting.

On January 17, 2012 Murmansk State Humanities University and Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (Norway) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Information event of finnish universities

On January 13 MSHU held an information event, the participants of which were Martti Ruokokoski, Consul of Finland, and other employees of Murmansk office of the Consulate General of Finland in Saint-Petersburg and representatives of three Universities of Lapland (Finland), i.e. University of Lapland (Rovaniemi), Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences and Kemi-Tornio University of Applied Sciences.

In December 2011 a Cooperation Agreement was signed between Murmansk State Humanities University and Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after I.P. Shamyakin (the Republic of Belorus).

The Russian Arctic: language, culture, economics

On the 4th−17th December the International Russian-Norwegian project «Russian Arctic: language, culture, economics» (Winter School) was realized at Murmansk State Humanities University and Murmansk State Technical University with the support of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat.

Meeting with representatives of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in St.Petersburg

On December 8 the meeting took place of MSHU management and staff with representatives of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in St.Petersburg: Ms Lucyna Morawska-Uhryn, The Consul and Mr Wojciech Cholewinsky, the Vice-Consul. The meeting was also attended by Nadezhda Gorina, Attaché of the Representative Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Murmansk.
